Around the holidays, my ambitions always run high: I want to set up multiple trees around the house, I want to purchase and wrap all the presents before December 1st, I want to bake several desserts for each of our gatherings from scratch, oh and make five dozen cookies for our neighbors (five different varieties).
You would be correct in calling me insane. And then reality sets in…my flourless chocolate cake is still gooey in the middle (and not the good type of gooey!) I forgot the key ingredient to the cookies, my toddler likes to topple the Christmas tree (not even joking.) And I end up losing my temper, my sanity, and not having fun at all.
I do not simply have time to make four different types of cookies and make the frosting from scratch (and after doing it one year and trying to make Royal Icing from scratch I can tell you it is not worth it!) So instead, this year I am doing holidays the smart way–with desserts I know that everyone will love and that are as easy as dropping by the grocery store!
My family comes together each Christmas, and what do we love to do? Eat! So this year, instead of slaving in the kitchen and making myself (and my family) miserable; I am going to be smart. I am stocking up on Kemps Ice Cream for all of our holiday gatherings! Their special holiday flavors are amazing! My favorite was Kemps Moose Tracks Peppermint Bark Ice Cream and E’s was Kemps Candy Cane Ice Cream! #ItsTheCows Add some Kemps milk, and these would make amazing milkshakes too! Heck, ditch the cookies at the cookie exchange and bring Kemps Ice Cream! Everyone will be asking for seconds!
To make it extra special, I love putting it in special holiday dishes–the kids’ favorites are their cups that we get each year when we meet Santa. But, I know growing up that lots of kids have special Christmas tree cups, bowls, and plates and those are great too! Believe me, you could eat it out of the carton and it would be special! It is just that good!
