WHEW! This week flew by! But here are my five favorites from this week!
1// Painting the Town
Well, in another life. In reality this week, I was just painting the bathroom for three days. Although it is a small room, there is a ton of tying in and a ton of everything required four coats. If you didn’t know, I am participating in the One Room Challenge and am trying to give our kids’ bathroom a cosmetic face lift in six weeks. We are three weeks into it and the painting is mostly done. I still have to do the cabinet doors and the paned window. We still have to do the board and batten, install a new light, and put up the new roman shade I made yesterday! And if you want to check up on my initial plans for the bathroom, see this post and if you are planning on painting ANYTHING in your house, you need to read this post!
I will reveal the DIY next Monday so make sure to check back in!
2// Earth Day
Today is Earth Day, one of the few holidays that I truly believe in! We try to be as green as possible on a budget, which is why we cloth diaper, clean with water and nontoxic cleaners, and eat organic as much as possible. We even buy our quarter of a cow from a small responsible almost farmer (who I know by name and adore and who raises the cows as close to organic and grass-fed as you can get!)
I won’t get sappy on you but our world is so dang beautiful, we should all try to do our best to be stewards of it. You can make little choices that add up. Even with DIY stuff, I make sure to buy non-toxic zero VOC paint for the health of my home and the world!
3// Jack Turns One Next Week
YIKES! I know I sound like every other mom out there, but I cannot believe he is turning one. He is such a special little boy and the easiest going baby around. He is finally starting to sleep much better at night–thank goodness! He is pushing his walker all around the house and even blessed me with a 2.5 hour nap this week. A 2.5 hour nap from him is a once in a blue moon nap. Seriously, a “good” nap from him is 45 minutes MAYBE 1 hour never more than that. Usually, I get two 30 minute naps a day from him. He loves eating (as evidenced by his cheeks!) and loves being outside.
And I could not be more thankful that it is FINALLY warming up. We have been playing outside almost every day, even if it is just to go for a walk with the dogs at night around the pond.
4// Tone It Up Bikini Series
Alright, so checking in from January I am down 10 pounds but I still want to lose the final five to eight so I feel really good in my skin. I have been lax about doing my core exercises lately and it shows. Although, I have been running more (my sanity workout) I need to get back onto the core exercises. I am toying with the idea of doing the Bikini Series; but, I don’t know. Anyone else doing it?
5// Pink Door Home Tour Blog Hop
I have teamed up with four other lovely ladies to host a four week home tour! This week, we shared our homes. Next week, we are talking all about our inspiration and plans, the following our nurseries, and the last week our favorite decorating resources. And just a teaser–there is an amazing giveaway by one of my absolute favorites online stores and bloggers. And if you haven’t checked out the other ladies’ homes you are missing out! Home of Malones, Simply Clarke, Attention to Darling, and Kids & Cabernet are all showing off their beautiful abodes!
