Hi friends! I feel like it is high time for a good ol’ life lately post. In the past month I haven’t been able to post as much as I would like to (if you feel like you’ve been missing out, I always post on Instagram so follow me there!) Why? Well between summer ending (and trying to squeeze every last bit out), school starting, and babysitters being out of town it has been a little crazy! And the little time I have had has been spent doing back-end blog work and DIYing. Such is the struggle of every mom, right, too many demands and too little time!
The kids have been doing great! Bowe is absolutely loving being back at school and Jack is too. Bowe goes five days a week, and Jack goes three mornings. Bowe is officially in K-4 this year and although I was nervous about her being too tired to stay “extended day” she is loving it. Both kids attend a local Montessori preschool and it really fits their (very different) personalities well! I have written a bit about our favorite Montessori toys here and plan on doing more posts on it because it is one of my most popular posts to date!
Brooke continues to grow up so fast and thank God she is still super easy going. She is an amazing sleeper–most nights she sleeps from 10 until 5 which has NEVER happened with either of my first two kids. She just started smiling and has the easiest temperament. I can’t wait to watch her little personality develop as she grows.

Jack is doing really well too but poor guy has been having nightmares (or night terrors) at night. During the day, he is still as active and keeps me on my toes at all times. He seems to be having a harder time than Bowe in adjusting to Brooke, but it is to be expected. And overall, he has adjusted so well! He is incredibly gentle and caring with her–everything I ever could have wished for a big brother!
I plan on doing a bit more about it since it is something I have been working on and struggling with. There are just too many things to be done everyday, and most days I feel like I am pulled in a million directions. Somedays I feel like a really good mom, and those are usually the days I feel like I have neglected my business. So it is something I am actively trying to figure out.
That being said, a few things I have been trying lately to give myself a few more hours is outsourcing. We hired a cleaning lady to come once every two weeks. It is amazing! She wasn’t that expensive and saves me so much stress worrying about deep cleaning the house. I still clean to keep the house in good shape, but she has helped a lot. Just knowing that the showers are cleaned (my least favorite chore) every two weeks has alleviated a lot of stress.
I also have been using a new service in our area called Shipt. We have used it twice and it is awesome. It is $99 a year and deliveries over $35 are free. Since our favorite grocery store is 25 minutes away it saves us a lot of time. Try it out here and save $10 (referral link.)
We are trying our first Plated meals this week. Can you believe we are the only people who haven’t ever had food delivered? I will be sure to let you know what we think!
Oh, and I am using my Emily Ley planner nonstop! I am halfway through her book and am loving it. I can’t wait for her new one to come out!
The couple projects we have going on are gearing up for the One Room Challenge (see my previous ones here, here, and here) which starts next month. We are re-doing our playroom and I have six weeks of projects planned! And we have been working on the nursery. See our recent changes here and our plans to tweak it more! I have also been busy painting some pieces of furniture for some good how-to posts I have planned.
Alright, that’s all for now. It’s 7 AM so I am going to go downstairs and start the school routine.
