1. Life Lately
We have been insanely busy. I feel like for the past month June, we have been running from one thing to the next. Everyday, I find myself absolutely exhausted by 8:30, which I don’t know whether it is a product of just all the activity we do, or being a mom of two young children who are always moving!
This week has been really warm, so we’ve been at our neighborhood pool everyday after B’s daily swim lessons. She has become a fish this summer which has been amazing to watch. She can now dive underwater for toys, and can be without her swim back-pack in the shallow end 3′ deep (we switched to this one because it gives the kids more arm mobility). It doesn’t have the same buoyancy as the puddle jumpers, but is great for kids that are a little farther along learning to swim.
Jack still wears the puddle jumpers 24/7 in the pool. We bought this sprinkler and it has been such a hit!
Before lessons, or in between when her lessons end and regular pool hours begin, I have been running with the kids and it feels so good. Well, it feels like crap when I run but it is worth it. With some drama in the last few weeks, I have been stressed out and running is my way to cope. Plus I am down to my goal weight that I set in January–12 pounds lighter! I am finally down to my normal pre-baby weight, but I would like to lose a little more to get to my post-B weight and I think it’s possible if I get my diet in order. I have a serious sweet tooth and definitely turn to sweets when stressed out. I may have eaten all of the boxes of cookies that I am posting about next week…
This week, we made sure to go to our local Zoo’s member night–it was pirates and princesses–and the kids had a blast! Jack loved the ball activity and B loved seeing the orangutan up close and personal as well as the lions! If you follow me on Snapchat: AnnieThompsonAT you probably saw it!
This week, we hosted 12 high school sailors and their coach, an old friend at our house. It has been really fun and a little crazy! The kids are in seventh heaven hanging out with 12 “big kids!” B thinks that they are her new friends! All of the kids have been incredibly well behaved, nice, and polite. But having high schoolers around really makes me feel old! I realized when I was in high school, no one had iPhones, no one had cell phones with web capability, and when we traveled there was never any wifi!
3. Before you Shop the Nordstrom Sale
If you want to save some money (or get some cash back) order online (is there any other way to shop as a mom?) and make sure to sign into Ebates. If you aren’t a member it is completely free, and today you can get 6% cash back from Nordstrom! Perfect way to maximize your savings! I personally have earned over $500 from it!
This year, I didn’t really partake much in the Nordstrom Sale. I picked up a few key things but not as many as year’s past. I felt overall, most of the stuff was very similar of last year. I did make sure to pick up one more of these shirts because they are great. I still wear mine from last year all the time and for the money, it is great quality. It hangs nicely on and is really nice for hot summer days. I also picked up this romper and this dress for Haven Conference next month! But these faux leather leggings are totally calling my name–I missed out last year and I totally regretted not snagging them earlier!
Alright, I am off to go running on this nice cool morning of 65 degrees! We might get to go sailing today and watch the sailors race! Have a wonderful weekend!
